Phew...President Bush won!

I'm sooooo bad...I tried not to get too into it. I tried to keep the eternal perspective and just spend the night with God. Okay...okay...I could have tried harder. The conclusion: failed miserably!
The Bible tells us God, ultimately, sets governments:
"And he changeth the times and the seasons; He removeth kings, and setteth up kings; he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding." (Daniel 2:20-21)
"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God. The powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God; and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same. For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must need be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For this cause pay ye tribute also, for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.” (Romans 13:1-6)
There is a lesson for us here Christians. Don't worry, don't fret over elections and their repercussions; God is in charge! As far as we're concerned, we are to honour the authorities God places over us (whether we perceive them as wicked or righteous), and walk through this life with uprightness and integrity.
Remember my brothers and sisters in the Lord:
"For our conversation (or citizenship) is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ" (Philippians 3:20)
"Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God" (Ephesians 2:19)
We are the citizens of Heaven. We are children of God first and foremost; American, Canadian, European...their all temporary designations. Nothing to get overly excited about.
All that being said, I just couldn't resist watching, hoping and praying for a victory for George W. Bush. There is no doubt that President Bush and the Republicans (sounds like an 80s pop band...LOL) are by far more Christian-friendly. I hope God uses this turn of events to bless the USA and Canada (whatever happens in the US has a strong impact on my country).
"Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity." (Psalm 118:25)
God bless,
Rand
