Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 1:13)

meh...

Hatred for the Gospel of Christ and disdain toward God's Word is pretty much all we saw tonight. It's tough to write a post after such a lousy night of evangelism. I know that the Lord could still use our efforts tonight to work out something truly glorious, but as of right now, it's all pretty miserable. For the most part, people sighed, hissed and grumbled at the mere mention of Christ and His Gospel (literally). Even our John 3:16 sign generated mockery and scorn!

Despite the negative responses, Pastor Tim and I soldiered on, preaching the Gospel and handing our Bible literature for a good three hours. We were thankful to the Lord for the mild weather, which brought out larger than normal crowds to the market. We easily ministered to thousands of lost souls tonight.

It truly was a carnival of wickedness. From the mocking laughter of bar-hoppers, to the lesbians who rolled their eyes at me, to the punk/goth teenagers who, in a drunken stupor, cursed God with many vile words, it was all pretty sad. A precious few souls took some literature, and fewer still had a good word to share with us. A couple of souls, professing to be Christians, gave me a "God bless you", but a quick glance at their general conversation/way of life, had me seriously questioning the veracity of the their claims.

I could write more, but I think you get the picture. Pretty miserable night. I'll close with an earnest request that prayers be made for the people of my city, and for us evangelists labouring in this hard environment.

Have a blessed, safe weekend, dear saints.

    Yes! Now that IS an encouraging post! Look UP Brother. Soon the Lord of Glory is to come. For:

    This know also, that in the LAST DAYS perilous times shall come.
    For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
    Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
    Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away...
    Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

    (For) the disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.
    And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him:

    You have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against SIN.

    (May) the Lord make you to increase and abound in LOVE one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
    To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

    Therefore, my beloved brethren, be you stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as you know that your labour is NOT IN VAIN IN THE LORD.

    For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds by Christ

    And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in Knowledge and in all JUDGMENT;
    That you may approve things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ

    Your three hours for the sake of the Gospel has uplifted me!

    Sincerely,

    Friday Night Notes

    Reminder: it's a wretched world...

    It had been some time since Pastor Tim and I had had a Friday night of open-air evangelism... it was good to get back at it! We set up at our usual preaching spot with our new sandwich-board Bible sign (see above), and preached the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ for a good three hours. The market wasn't terribly busy, but we certainly preached to hundreds of people; the Lord use our efforts as He sees fit.

    It was a cold night (-3 Celsius), and generally the hearts of the people were just as cold and hard. There were no kind words for us tonight, just mockery and hatred... in both of Canada's official languages. On a few occasions, I observed people pointing us out to friends and with disgust in their voices saying: "Christians." Amazing how in just a few decades in Canada, the label "Christian" has gone from admirable to revolting.

    I also overheard people refer to us as "the Jesus-guys" on more than one occasion. One woman actually asked how many years Pastor Tim (she called him the "Jesus-guy") had been preaching in the marketplace. I answered the question hoping the good preacher's many years of service would invoke some sort of positive response. No such luck. I will say this though, being labeled a "Jesus-guy"... totally fine by me.

    I'm trying hard to remember one good thing that happened tonight, and the only thing I can come up with is seeing Sal, a police officer/friend of ours. Other than that, it was pretty miserable. Alcohol and drug abuse, immorality, blasphemy, idolatry... you name the sin and I assure you, it was well represented in the market tonight. The Lord have mercy on our ungodly city.

    Just as our night of evangelism was ending, Pastor Tim and I had a rather animated discussion with a Roman Catholic who was none too pleased with our evangelism. We did our best, using the Scriptures, to show the errors and heresies of Romanism, but none of it mattered to the man. He wouldn't even look at the Scriptures. Our discussion ended with him F-bombing us (now that's good religion!). Pity.

    Please pray for us, dear saints... tomorrow is the Santa Clause parade, and Pastor Tim and I are planning to "participate" (if you catch my drift).

    Have a great weekend everyone,

    Just A Few Notes

    Saturday, November 05, 2011
    what a work-week!!!

    This week has been a crazy one at my workplace. Two of our mass spectrometers (very, very expensive lab instrumentation) experienced serious technical difficulties which required my intervention. A lot of overtime was done, and alot of money was, and will be spent to fix to complete the repairs. I spent the day and a good portion of the night staring at images like the one above (they are called "mass spectra"), so I didn't have much time for evangelism tonight.

    That said, at about 9:30pm, I left the lab and before catching the bus home, I took a small detour to the marketplace and distributed some Bible tracts. The market was busy enough; I gave out a fair number of tracts in a little more than half-an-hour. I spoke to a young man named Julian, a student who is actually working in a lab in my building. He and I have spoken before about the Gospel of Jesus and I was pleased that he continued to show an interest in the things which pertains to the Scriptures. He took one of the Bible tracts I was offering before taking off... I hope and pray the Lord will save him.

    The Lord use the little I was able to do tonight for His own honour and glory!

    Have a blessed weekend, dear saints.
